We awoke this morning to watch a helicopter airlifting supplies over several trips in a giant net hanging from a cable to the two mountain tea houses surrounding Lake Louise, one of which we had lunch at the day before.
We then packed up our things to head north-west up the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. The drive is only about 230km, but we took about 7 hours to make the drive, since there were so many places to stop along the way.
Below is the Athabasca Glacier.
Our first black bear sighting.
We eventually arrived in Jasper and made our way to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. As the name would suggest, we’re staying in a lodge and not a traditional hotel this time. We have a nice cabin by the lake and a short walk to the main building where the rest of the facilities (spa, restaurants, shopping, etc.) are located.
After getting settled, we headed over to the main lodge for some dinner on the patio by the lake.
